A few reminders for the upcoming weeks:
Thursday Sept. 1 - Picture Day - everyone will have picture made for yearbook. Friday Sept. 2 - Students dress up as a farmer or a farm animal. Monday Sept. 5 - Labor Day No School Friday Sept. 9 at 2:00 -Grandparents are intived to come in and share snack with us and play a game with their grandchild. Look for note to come home soon.

Greetings! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We are entering our third full week of school. Time does fly! The students are doing great . They are very eager to learn.
We will be reading a story this week called "The Big Blue Ox". We will continue and conclude our study on farms this week. Students may dress up like a farm animal or farmer on Friday. The phonics focus this week will be short o. We will also be learning about plurals and the action part of a sentence. In math we will finish topic two which covered comparing and ordering numbers. This week we will be learning about farm animals. Our reading story is called "Pig in a Wig." We will be working with the short i and final x sound in phonics. We will begin topic 2 in math which will cover Comparing and Ordering Numbers. Our spelling words will be short i words. Please remember to study words for our weekly spelling test on Fridays.
PTO has asked for parent email addresses. If you do not want your email added to their group please let me know. Also, please notify me if you do not want your child's picture posted on our website. We will begin posting soon. This week we will begin our new story "Come Back, Sam" We will be working with the short a sound in phonics. Our math lessons this week will include working with numbers to 12 and spatial patterns. Please work on our week 1 spelling words. They are posted under the spelling tab. Your child should have written the spelling words in their planner.
Please remember if students want to bring snack it must be non-messy and in a ziplock bag. They may bring water bottles only with water in them. Please remember to sign student planners nightly. Thanks for helping us get off to a great start! We are off to a good start for our first full week of school. Students did really well with the new routine of putting things away. We began our day with our morning meeting. Students are now assigned to jobs to help in the classroom. We had some wonderful helpers today!
This week we will be doing some fun stories. We read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" today. We even learned a dance to the song. Our coconut trees from the story are posted outside the classroom. We started our math by beginning with some review on writing our numbers. We will not have homework this week. Spelling words will begin next week. Students brought home our school fundraiser information today. Please read over the information, any money rasied will help our school. Please make sure you sign your child's planner daily. Check to see if they colored the box showing what color their ticket was on today. Students are doing really well following the rules!
